Here is an opportunity to photograph the still and quiet beauty of Yellowstone in winter. In this workshop you will learn how to keep your body and equipment functioning in difficult winter conditions while working with two seasoned professionals. Most of our daylight hours will be filled with photographing and creating dynamic images. Together we will look for patterns of snow and ice and interesting shapes and forms of the large landscape, and capture the raking low light of winter at dawn and dusk. The long evenings will provide ample classroom time for slide shows, sharing of photographs and portfolio reviews. We will also use classroom time for discussions on cultivating a personal vision, techniques of digital work-flow and Photoshop tools and tips. You will need a digital or film camera of your choice, tripod, and a working knowledge of photography fundamentals. A laptop is recommended for digital photographers and snowshoes are required for short forays from the road into deep snow.
Lodging at the Lamar Valley Buffalo Ranch is recommended for this course. You can book your cabin when you register.
