Snowshoe the historic trails that crisscross northern Yellowstone as instructor Julianne Baker reveals their history. Start along the Bannock Trail to learn about the native people who walked this way for centuries and why they came. Switch gears to follow the path of confusion trod by Truman C. Everts, who was lost, frozen, scalded, and treed by animals during a 37¬day odyssey in Yellowstone in 1870. Then strike off along the old stage coach road between Cooke City and Mammoth, learning about early travel and tourism in the park along the way. In the evenings, enjoy more stories and historic photographs that deepen the picture of Yellowstone’s colorful history.
Lodging at the Lamar Valley Buffalo Ranch is recommended for this course. You can book your cabin when you register.
