Location: Gardiner, Montana

Luminescent aspens, gold-colored fields, subtle lines of red running up mountains—the colors of fall signal changing seasons, life and death, procreation and preparation. Immerse yourself in this wealth of wonder on field trips to explore and photograph aspen groves, colorful hillsides, dying conifers, elk in rut, and traveling wolves. Learn why aspen colors change and how beetles cause red evergreens. Look for wolves teaching their young essential skills for surviving the coming cold, and watch elk in the throes of their annual mating season. It’s a colorful, wild time in Yellowstone—experience it all!

Activity Level-Leisurely hikes up to 1 mile per day through relatively flat terrain on maintained trails.

Start: September 17 at 1 p.m.
