Anywhere you look this time of year, you are likely to see raptors either wing-flapping or soaring on updrafts on their way south. You’ll find out why these birds-of-prey fly along ridges, where they are going, and what they eat. Because you are likely see so many species of raptors, this is the perfect time to learn the nuances of raptor identification—especially the field marks of immature and adult hawks, eagles, falcons, and osprey. Whether you are a beginning or advanced birder, you’ll pick up new identification tips as you observe this amazing assemblage of migrating raptor species.
 
Activity Level-Leisurely hikes up to 1 mile per day through relatively flat terrain on maintained trails.
 
Start: September 4 at 7 p.m.
End: September 6 at 3 p.m.
